The Epilepsy Agency of the Big Bend is a collaborative member of the Florida State Epilepsy Services Program, authorized by Florida Statutes 385.207(2)(a), and administered by the Florida Department of Health, to serve any Florida resident diagnosed with epilepsy. These organizations provide education and referral services throughout the state. If medical services are needed and the individual’s gross family income is at or below 100 percent of the federal poverty income guidelines, some services are provided free of charge. Six agencies participate and they are listed below.

Florida Epilepsy Services is sponsored by the Department of Health and United Way of Central Florida, servicing the estimated 360,000 Floridians who are afflicted with Epilepsy. Services include targeted case management; prevention education to groups, employers, and organizations; employment services; counseling; access to quality neurological medical treatment; and support groups.

A group of concerned parents founded Epilepsy Services of West Central Florida in 1973. It has grown from an organization that hosted support groups in one of the founder’s homes to providing critical services to persons and their families with epilepsy.

The Epilepsy Association is dedicated to improving the quality of life for persons affected by epilepsy and seizure disorders. Not only does The Epilepsy Association provide related medical and case management services for those with epilepsy, but they also offer educational programs to understand epilepsy for your business, community group, school, etc.

Epilepsy Alliance Florida is dedicated to supporting those impacted by epilepsy by confronting the spectrum of challenges created by seizures.
